Tennessee State (0-10) trailed for all but the early minutes of the game, but the Tigers kept playing hard and stayed in the game. They cut the Drexel lead to just six points with 6:16 to go when Patrick Miller scored on a lay-up. However, the Dragons put the game away with a 9-0 run immediately following the bucket. Rodney Williams started the run with a basket and closed it with a lay-in off a nice pass from Massenat in the back court, making it 64-49. TSU could get no closer than nine points the rest of the way as the Dragons made seven of eight free throws in the final minute.<br />

Both teams offenses started off fast in the opening minutes. Tennessee State was able to get some good looks on its way to a 14-11 lead. The Tigers made five of their first six attempts from the floor. Drexel finally seemed to settle in after about five minutes of play. The Dragons went on a 12-0 run to take the lead for good. Fouch and Massenat each had a three-pointer during the stretch when the Dragons held TSU without a point for a stretch of 6:18. The Tigers were able to cut it back to five points, but again Drexel's defense stepped up.
